In case one doesn't know (and as we approach Callie's first birthday, this is coming up waaaaay more than it should) breastmilk continues to be a great source of nutrition, even after the breastfeedee turns one year old.
Even if she has teeth.
Even if she has teeth.
Promise.
I read it on the internets, so it must be true, but if a person still doesn't believe me, I can get a note from our pediatrician.

yey! Glad there are other Mommies who aren't weaning at 1. When ! was pregnant and very uneducated on BFing I thought 6 months was "the limit", very soon after she was born I said 1 year, and by 6 months I decided to follow baby led weaning. Why cut us both off from something we love so much?!?!
Courtney - someone who shall remain nameless, but works *ahem* in the medical field, asked me the other day if my milk was "watering down yet". Really. And it's not the only comment that I've gotten like that.
I'm not weaning. This is the first thing in 20 years that my girly parts have done all on their own, right, and without any coaxing or intervention. We're riding this train until Callie wants off. :)
Well, this is not something I shout from the rooftops but Finn and I are still going, and he's 19 months! Now it's mostly down to just one feed, early in the morning, and it extends sleep for both of us. (Matt goes to get him when he wakes and brings him into our bed.) It calms him down on the airplane and helps us get though ear pain. And just recently, he was quite sick, vomiting and diahrrea and my milk was the only thing that he'd keep down and kept him from getting dehydrated! Actually our milk keeps changing with exactly the nutrients they need until about 2 years of age, which I find amazing. We're now in the "don't offer, don't refuse" stage, and there are more and more days when Finn doesn't ask for it, so I know the end is coming. But that's ok, all good things come to an end ... just doesn't need to be a premature end.
